Slammer Tour Chapters!
Are you a golf fiend? Do you have about 15 hours a week of your time to invest? Would you like to make some extra cash by working in the golf industry? If yes, then consider starting a Slammer Tour Chapter in your part of the world.
The Slammer Tour in Brief
- The Slammer Tour is a match play golf league for recreational golfers of any calibre, with competition and fun in perfect balance
- You build your membership by word of mouth, and by using email lists distributed through your own contacts (word spreads quickly because of peoples' love of the game)
- One Slammer Tour Chapter is allocated per city or region, anywhere on the planet Earth
How does it work?
We provide all of the basic materials that you need to start your own regional Slammer Tour Chapter, including the following:
- Step-by-step road map on how to get things rolling
- Your own website with easy to use game summary forms, and endless member statistics
- Marketing material templates
- Distribution rights for "SlammerGear" (hats, shirts, towels, etc.)
- Email access to 'The Commish' (for operational advice and guidance)
How much does it cost? How much can you make?
- The only cost is your time until your Slammer Tour Chapter grows to 100 members, unless of course you you want to invest a little in advertising or other promotional initiatives
- After you reach 100 members, you can expect to start making money
Who owns the Slammer Tour?
- The Slammer Tour is privately owned by 'The Commish', aka Jamie Ryan, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
- The Ottawa Chapter has been operational since 1997 and is now a well recognized league for competitive golf in the Ottawa area
Will The Slammer Tour work in your area?
- For your Slammer Tour Chapter to succeed, the first prerequisite is hard work. Once you get to 100 members, new member recruiting tends to happen naturally, mainly by word of mouth, but until then, getting the word out is just plain old fashioned hard work
- Beyond hard work, it helps for you, as a regional Commish, to be a decent golfer; you are a leader and should break 90, regularly, and you should have a solid understanding of the rules of golf (part of The Slammer Tour mission is to educate people about the rules of golf)
- You will need to have the initial contacts to help build your membership base
- You will need patience as people slowly get to understand what the Slammer Tour is all about
- You will need to pay attention to detail, and ensure that all Slammer Tour operational, branding and quality standards are respected and met
- You will need a good right hand man/woman to back you up
- You will need two or three other enthusiastic 'golf fiends' to help you out with day-to-day operations
- You must have the time to participate in at least 75% of the yearly events (to lead by example)
- You will need to make a long-term commitment (a five-year commitment is recommended)
- You will need to have access to at least 15 public golf courses that will accept reservations for 4-20 golfers at a time, at least 5 days in advance
- You will need a sense of humour that will be omni-present in all Slammer Tour activity: we play by the rules but equally important is the fun that we have
Why don't you just organize your own golf league?
- It's certainly an option but we can help you get going more quickly and with fewer stumbles along the way (we've already made the mistakes on your behalf)
- You have the major business benefit of access to someone who has 'done it before', to help guide you through the development process
- Economies of scale with respect to website development and maintenance, statistics, merchandising, billing tools, etc.
- Numerous ideas are in development to keep building The Slammer Tour experience: golf getaways, regional Tour challenges, celebrity challenges, Slammer discounts, and many others
- Because The Slammer Tour approach to golf has already proven itself to work
