The Slammer Tou Doggie Extravaganza #3 – September 1, 2011
Another successful and fantastic Doggie Extravaganza event was held on the evening of Sept 1st at White Sands. This was the third event this year but it was the first time we played 18 holes. 8 Slammers were registered but due to the forgetfulness of DJD45, only seven Slammers enjoyed the festivities of the event. Since we played the same nine holes twice, the second time around the dogs were won with closer shots. This is a great event to work on your iron play! White Sands has to be the best nine-hole course in the city. With the great hospitality at the Royal Oak after the golf, this is one Slammer that can’t wait to play in these events next year.

Doggies

Again golfers were grouped by class so to provide competition within your class. All holes had doggies won with each worth 7.50 bones:

  • 5.5 won by Stymie
  • 4 won by Ticklar
  • 3 won by Mother
  • 2 won by ProZee
  • 1.5 won by Ozone
  • 1 won by Bowler
  • 1 won by Steamer

Skins

Another four-skin event worth eight bones each won by:

  • Ticklar (birdie)

Stars

  1. Stymie takes first star honours with 41.25 bones (5.5 dogs)
  2. Ticklar takes second star with 38 bones (4 dogs, 1 skin and 1 birdie)
  3. Third star went to Mother for earning 22.50 bones (3 dogs)

The kids took home $8.50!

The Slammer Tour Doggie Extravaganza #2 – July 28, 2011
Another successful and funtastic Doggie Extravaganza was held on the evening of July 28 at White Sands. 18 Slammers were registered but due to the forgetfulness of 2 Slammers (Gurmpy and IronMan)only 16 Slammers enjoyed the festivities of the event. There were lots of opportunities to test your irons to win doggies and skins as 7 holes are 150 yards or less from the whites. How good is your iron play? And White Sands double verticut and double rolled the greens in the morning to make the greens run close to a 10. White Sands has to be the best 9 hole course in the city.

Doggies

Again golfers were grouped by class so to provide competition within your class. All holes had doggies won with each worth 35 bones:

  • 3 won by Ticklar
  • 2 won by ProZee
  • 2 won by BytownBlue
  • 1 won by Chilly, and
  • 1 won by Mother

Skins

Another 4 skin event worth 18 bones each won by:

  • Chilly (birdie)
  • Mother (birdie)
  • ProZee (birdie)
  • SeaBass (birdie)

Stars

  1. Ticklar has first star honours with 105 bones (3 dogs)
  2. ProZee takes second star with 88 (2 dogs, 1 skin and 1 birdie)
  3. Third star went to BytownBlue for earning 70 bones (2 dogs)

Honourable mention goes to Mother with 53 bones (1 dog, 1 birdie, and 1 skin)

The Royal Oak, proud sponsor of Ottawa Sun Scramble Kick-Off Day, was the scene of the wind up activities. The Royal Oak known for their outstanding service and great food was an excellent environment for the windup. The last Doggie Extravaganza, an 18 hole event, has been rescheduled to September 1 starting at 4:00 at White Sands with the wind-up at The Royal Oak Orleans. Register and come on out for the festivities, puppies and skins!

The Slammer Tour Doggie Extravaganza #1 – June 23, 2011
The first Doggie Extravaganza for 2011 was held on Thursday evening at White Sands with 10 Slammers participating. Rumour had it that lots of Slammers were hesitant to play due to the weather forecast but not a drop of rain happened while we were golfing. It was a great and very enjoyable first Doggie Extravaganza.

Grouping golfers by class provided competition with your peers. Seven of 9 holes had doggies claimed and each puppy was worth 28 bones:

  • 4 won by KidsClub
  • 2 won by Hacker
  • 1 won by BytownBlue

There were 4 skins: 3 by birdies (11 bones each)

  • IronMan (par)
  • ByTownBlue (birdie)
  • KidsClub (birdie)
  • Hacker (birdie)

Stars

  • KidsClub takes first star for walking away with 123 bones (4 dogs, 1 skin and 1 birdie)
  • Second star went to Hacker who took 67 bones home (2 dogs, 1 skin and 1 birdie)
  • Third star went to BytownBlue for earning 39 bones (1 dog, 1 skin and 1 birdie)
  • Honourable mention goes to IronMan who takes home a skin
  • The kids took home $9.50

The wind-up occurred at the The Royal Oak Orleans who provided outstanding service, cool beverages and great food. On top of that The Royal Oak provided each golfer with a Bud Light golf cap. So, for Doggie Extravaganza #2 we are expecting at least 24 Slammers to come out and play and then join us for grub at The Royal Oak, proud sponsor of Ottawa Sun Scramble Kick-Off Day.

Congratulations KC!
