Notables

  • Notable ONE … Many people think things about our scoring median are ‘wrong’. Well today two of every three Slammers had a score within 4 strokes of THAT median. The best relatively speaking today are ShelGame (-7) , Lucky, JMoney, Deter, Chilly & Billiards. PizzaMan, Newfie, BearCat, Wally & Stevie Ray need to buy Juice a drink. She saved them from being mentioned in this section that has the TOP FIVE of those that scored higher than their SM. The top five are Duke, Pouf, Rocco, GaspeBoy, & Juice (+8 and just one stroke worse than the others, NOT being mentioned here).
  • Notable TWO … Today’s pace was good to fair – BUT I firmly believe that had we not had the groups thrown in between our split tees – it would have been a VERY GOOD pace. That is because of everybody honouring their agreements. THANK YOU! Keep it up.
  • Notable TWO A (attachment) http://www.executivegolf.ca/pdf/EG%20Pace%20of%20Play%20Agreement.pdf
  • Notable THREE… last time Rulz ran the 100 - he lost to Number 7 - no wonder - he couldn’t even catch a porcupine today! He did chase it down the fifth fairway, but stopped when he thought about the quills. “Porcupines have soft hair, but on their back, sides, and tail it is usually mixed with sharp quills. These quills typically lie flat until a porcupine is threatened, then leap to attention as a persuasive deterrent. Porcupines cannot shoot them at predators as once thought, but the quills do detach easily when touched. Many animals come away from a porcupine encounter with quills protruding from their own snouts or bodies. Quills have sharp tips and overlapping scales or barbs that make them difficult to remove once they are stuck in another animal's skin. Porcupines grow new quills to replace the ones they lose. Porcupines like to chew on canoe paddles, so, although you may get quills attached to you if you brush by a porcupine, they won’t chew on your golf clubs!”
  • Notable FOUR … Those orange plastic duotangs {now have Slammer Tour logos on them} keep your sheets dry and clean. I am pretty impressed at how you all returned them with scorecard in tact. Many of you gave me credit for a great idea – well it wasn’t mine. I have forwarded your compliments over to Helen.
  • Notable FIVE … Look at quotable #5 below, apparently ‘I’ made the bird. I think that is a whine – do you? Should we collect $2 for the kids? I guess that maybe the 9th quotable should also be considered.
  • Notable SIX … Deter went 2-1 today, and that may not sound so fantastic to you – but today was his 21st career event. He joined last August 13th, so he is a little behind Gator’s pace. He now has 4 B scores. 12 C scores, and 4 D scores on his scoring median. With today’s event, he has removed a 102 from his list. The other thing that is rare on his stat page is two wins. The only other time that he did that was when Iron Maiden shot a 102 and The Enigma had 104 on opening day – way back on April 6th at Prescott. Congratulations on your second best score ever on Tour.
  • Notable SEVEN … There was a Rulz spotting today. Rumour is that he will be out more, now that Bookie and Iron Maiden have passed him in career events. He is worried, that other guy that keeps losing event records to his Ottawa Sun Scramble partner, is about to pass him and would have next Saturday, but will have to settle for the tie in 7th place with 420 events. By the way - his foursome today consisted of the Tour's all time three biggest loser of bones - their current total? 8687 bones

Quotables

  • “Sh*t!”
  • “I did not deserve THAT!”
  • “We would have been faster if it wasn’t for Marshall Darcy.”
  • “Happy’s lost his balls – OOH, they’re badly bruised!”
  • “I have a tree up my butt!”
  • “Why didn’t you try?” “I did try! I just did it differently than you.”
  • “I got a doggie here once.”
  • “How did you do? We need a Team Quebec sweep.”
  • “I only missed getting that doggie by 144 yards.”
  • “I just found a false eyelash on the ladies washroom floor.” Hope that was a woman’s quote.
  • "WOW! What an improvement here. I haven't played here in years - I will be back."

Summary
It is 24 hours later. Time for the second round, so we move 136.7 kilometres west down the 417. Day two of the annual Executive Golf Club Championships. Of course we couple it up with match play, so the Slammers join this event (today we will have one less, many of the same crowd, but will add Rocco & Skeeter to the mix). What a day for matches as twenty of them are decided on the 18th. Another fourteen, just one hole earlier. Once again we will do a split tee take-off, and will optimize the ‘two doggy-master’ system. ShortThunder or BigStack will handle the front nine, with BigThunder & ShortStack taking care of the back. The bad news, before you go read about it a little lower on this page is that he thought that he had one on #15 only to find out that Flyer was six feet closer. Now I am running ahead of myself. Some Slammers were seen floating away from Casselview yesterday. How many of them won’t show up today? Who gets defaults? Well the only one that was AWOL and all of his opponents won be default = no upsets as they were all ranked higher. A couple of non-Slammers didn’t show up, and a quick last minute shuffle had Skeeter join Pukey J and latest rookie Duker in group ten. Skeeter may have won a doggy but the judging committee are still looking into the fact there was a ball on a tee however it was indefinable. Still awaiting the final verdict! Want to know what else happened? Just read below to see if day one leaders in the Executive Golf Club Championships fared well. Slammers led 7/9 divisions. They only trailed in the C and Super Senior. Will they take over today?

Stars
Chef
Chef went 3-0 today. He was one of only two Slammers to get more than one birdie, and he gets to the third round of the Club Championships, leading the Open division. Chef has dropped fairly low {by his standards} in the rankings – as it has been somewhat difficult to get in any matches against the top seeds. But today we have a new #2. Chef upset Woodsy {had lost five straight to him} 3 and 1. He had dispensed of Smitty and Malone earlier. He had the best score of round two, and collected 35 bones for his birdie skin on the sixth.
Lucky
No! I am not stuttering. Yes! this is the exact same Slammer as yesterday to stand on the second step of the podium. We have so many things to consider. Once again, when comparing all of the stats, the guy with the horseshoes and shamrocks comes up as the winner. An upset over Duke to move up twenty rungs, and that after only eleven holes. Two holes later and Lucky was already 3-0. Two rounds, both with an A score find Lucky leading the B club championships by six strokes. A little stat over there on the left talks about 'coming to play'. Lucky has shot below his median and is the only one mentioned there for the second straight day.
Pukey J
Led today's event with three birdies. All three were good for a skin. He wins 105 bones and is now just 4 behind GaspeBoy for the lead in that category. Oh yes - we come here to play match play and not just to go bird hunting. So he went undefeated when he beat both Skeeter and Duker. he also looked pretty good - or havent you noticed?
