The Make-A-Wish Foundation exists for one purpose: to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The Slammer Tour believes in helping those who are a little less fortunate than us and as such, we have selected the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario (TM) as our charity of choice. Estranged Slammer, Itzak Rahbin, pioneered the effort back in the early days of The Tour and we hope that our little part will make a big difference for one, two or many kids that need it.
We raise money for the foundation in several ways:
- Slammers donate 50 cents for each three-putt per event (since three-putts are bad, we may as well get some good out of them). The official Make-A-Wish Collection Can is available at all event, so be sure to pony up!
- No-show fines are all passed onto the foundation
- At the Tour's year-end Slammies awards ceremony
- At various Executive Golf events, including
The Tour keeps a tally of all money collected throughout the season and the final amount raised is announced at the Slammies in late November or early Decenber. To learn more about this great cause, please visit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern Ontario website.
All sorts of things can come true when we work together!
