Notables

  • Ticklar and Sunny didn’t like the introductions.
  • Nobody got ten holed.
  • There were no TC matches.
  • Nobody (that MOST famous Slammer) joined the hole in one club.
  • Seems like nothing happened BUT today was the last chance to qualify for your Commish Cup Team. GoofBall was safe on Team EAST. Fingz & BigGuy made Team QUEBEC. Team WEST was represented by Mulder and Gator – who were already booked for next Saturday! SOUTH spots were already secured by IronMaiden and Juice was ranked 23 – so should be safe! ShortStack beat F6Noob by default, which meant that AngryBird who was in the tenth spot needed to avenge his one match loss to Chip-me-in. They shook hands after 17 and AngryBird missed the team by one spot (his #56 rank would have made any of the other Slammer Teams!). Defending champions Team CENTRAL had four in this field trying to make it, they were all on the outside looking in. Chilly was safe (but had to bail from this very popular annual event). Shorts was successful and is third on the team ranks. Grumpy did not make it nor did SmallFry, who had three chances – only needed one win (rumoured to be a coach’s pick – see the third quotable below). Guest teams' participants Slinky, Sunny, SunnyBoy & BearCat were all in this field as well.
  • What a refreshing change!!! With so many people having so much to say about tee blocks – it is good to see Irons volunteer to move back and play the tees that he wants to improve at.
  • Chilly and Ticklar played together today. This was their 213th match (yes the Tour record!). Only 35 other Slammers have played that many events.
  • IronMaiden did the skins report and when they are made live = that lessens the OC’s job by a ton on game night! THANK YOU from Broker4Tickets but MORESO from moi.
  • We had a rookie QuickSnap Doggy Master. He wasn’t aware that the first part of the job means coming early to collect the bones – JUST KIDDING – FAMILY FIRST and thank you for your help, Mulder.
  • MILESTONES ALERT – Hey Spud in case you read this – I am sorry that I missed your 100th event last week. Give ToothFairy a hug from me and let her know that her Golfing FAMILY is praying for her.
  • Although there were nine other chances for a MILESTONE today – all fell short … except Chilly’s draw with Slinky was his 100th career draw. He is ninth to reach that many!

Quotables

  • “I have to make Team Central!”
  • “His name is Flake, and we all fell for it.”
  • “On this last day of qualifying for the Commish Cup, last year’s top point getter for the champs, needs to beat any of his three opponents. He is undefeated against them (1-0-1).”
  • “His highlight is people. His lowlight are some of the other people.”
  • “He is just a young guy.” “YoungER!”
  • “You can either pay attention or pay through the nose. I would rather pay attention!” “BUT I am so broke that I can’t pay attention.”
  • ”The greens were FUN-tass-tic!!”
  • “This course should be called PAR-scott!”
  • “Is that bench a preferred lie?” “YES!!!|
  • “BearCat go get the sheet!” “How come he went and didn’t argue?” “Obviously, you don’t know him well. He had to have a GREAT game.”
  • “Shorts, Sunny, & Chilly, you went undefeated and are not a star.” “Mulder, did you go undefeated?” “I’m afraid to answer.”
  • “Your alacrity is legendary!”

Summary
Hello Prescott, we hear that your course is a lot greener than most others, so can we add another group? Oh sorry, me again, can you make it a seventh group? Even with an injury (get that knee fixed soon Zoey) withdrawal and a first timer (Chaps) unable to get in from Kingston, we still filled the spots. Twenty eight were scheduled, and NOW we are still looking for Brandon and Jim (Flake & F6). We gave the newbie a chance and sent out group 3 and group 4, whilst holding back group 2. Alas we could wait no longer. Seven groups left hole one. A few hours later they were right back there again. This time just to walk by. Fill the trunks and SLAM them shut. In for some coolness with the occasional amber fluid being quaffed. Thank you Thom and Bill for our three star prizes! Happy 22nd to the youngest Slammer in today’s field. That’s right he used to be a junior but now SunnyBoy is 22! My technology issues were fixed! All I had to do was move my office, then go to Dunn's for lunch on Merivale road ... THANK YOU T-BONE!!!

Stars
BearCat
“I will be at BridgeView for breakfast, if anybody wants to join me.” Well we all should have – It sure was good food for him. It took him 7 events to break the 100. Another 32 to break 90. His previous Slammer best was an 84 in his 77th event (his only time breaking 85 in 265 events), way back in 2011. Today he beats that PB by 5 and breaks the 80. The roar of the crowd when it was announced proved our congrats!!!. Oh yeah today he had one birdie and two skins, three victories, including one over somebody who was supposed to win. That upset over P-Bomb moved him up 13 rungs on the ladder. That orange Prescott hat looks good on you!
FingZ
Getting used to this? He is a star again today. He was first star on Canada Day at Canadian, second at Casselview yesterday, and today rounds out the sweep. He played three of our platinum courses this weekend and starred at each one. Ouest, Est, ou Sud, it doesn’t matter. This record setting Slammer is moving toward another record (he was fastest to 100 events in just 363 days). Today he beat SmallFry 3and2, then a hole later took down GoofBall 2and1. The UPSET happened on the last hole, when he hung on to beat IronMaiden for the first time since October 14, 2014. Felicitations to the new #4! The pro shop said that you can trade in the golf glove for one with one less fingzer!
Juice
This is becoming such a habit! She has been first star 5 times this season, and has made a trip to the podium 10 times in the thirty events that she has played (been OC 12 times and won’t pick herself!). Today on the way to this podium to pick up her Titleist velocity sleeve she 26 bones for her birdie skin on hole three. She “waxed his ass!” and was all done match play with 5 holes left to play. She knew that the Commish was coming after her and she was equal to it. Team CENTRAL sent two after her the day before and they didn’t make the team either. Scrazy – is she in your kitchen? Maybe you should try chocolate!
