  • The starter told all (especially the first timers), that “you will say two things when you finish. First you will say ‘I will be back, I love it.’ Then you will say, ‘But next time I am going to beat it!’” However, starting the next day, there were people that called him a LIAR! Welcome to the Tour OneEye! I- like a course that is magnificent, regardless of a tough shot.
  • Did I mention that I love this course? I warned you all that it is not easy but very enjoyable. Sorry Potter but of the 56 Slammers that played today and had a scoring median, 40 did not better their SM. Mulder hit it right on (see first quotable), and ten others were 1,2 or 3 better. Today’s leaders were Gator (-9), Lucky (-7) & Potter (-4).
  • Notable TWO – Not everybody found it so tough. Malone was the only Slammer to record nothing more than a five (and he ended up behind GaspeBoy in the CC) today. By the time that he was on about hole six – he was being mentioned in the introductions because of his first two shots that he made here his very first time that he played BCC. Hey AR bring that game to the annual Brockville challenge, and GREAT ROUND!
  • Notable THREE – of course all golfers think that they should have ideal situations for every shot. I am sorry (well maybe not real sincerely) to those of you that ‘whined’ that it wasn’t Lift Clean & Cheat (I mean place). Whoever has that copy of the book “Golf - an easy game to play,” will you please lend it to me.
  • Notable FOUR – the Slammer Tour’s charity of choice is the Make-a-Wish foundation. We pay fifty cents for every 3 putt, a twonie for a whine. At a large event many people are home long before the last group finishes. Some of you remember to leave some Kidz change. Others choose just to add it at the dinner next Sunday – see you then.
  • Notable FIVE – Choosing the three stars is never easy, but especially so when there are 56 Slammers in the field. Some of the criteria that I use to decide is match play record today, upsets, dogs, skins, bones, and finally the occasional little tidbit (personal bests / entering the top ten) that I can add. Today I had narrowed it down to GaspeBoy, (in order of group number) BearCat, Lucky, Potter, Spud, IronMaiden & Steamer. Although we don’t do such things – I assume that four of you will be Honourable Mentions.
  • TOP TEN = #s 2,3,3,4,6,6,6,10&10 all were upset, meaning that Steamer, IronMaiden, Intruder, Lucky, BearCat, Gator, StevieRay, Spud & Dr.Pepper all contributed to moving #11 flyer to #20
  • 56 golfers SLAMmed today and averaged a 91.

Staff and members were busy today with chain saws starting the clean-up which will take a few days. I hope you guys didn’t wreck Mountain Creek today."

Summary
THANK YOU Derek. Especially for forbidding that STORM to come before we were gone. We had our own BIG THUNDER! Potter asks me how many groups are left out there, because Derek (club pro) MacDonald (DMac in Slammer land) was going out to pull them off. However when he asked, the very last group was walking down eighteen and he let them play. They finished, scores were entered, trophies loaded into the car. We left Brockville before the storm. IronMaiden was safe when it hit. The storm forced the BCC to close their back nine on Sunday as the staff started to clean up many downed trees. We will be back in about a month for those of you that want to play and beat a great course – maybe one of those back nine trees was in YOUR way. Off to Mountain Creek tomorrow!

If you checked the criteria on the left and compare 55 other Slammers, he is the one. He won three times. Beat them all and entering today he had a career record of 16-23-2. That record was because he had a losing record against all three of his opponents. Today was his 14th Slammer event at Brockville (he only beat 100 – 4 times before today’s best ever score here.) When the day started all in the foursome were in top 22. Now with his upset of Pepilepu (was #6) on hole 13, he ends day one of the Club Championships as #10. He also defended against Gator on 14 and Stevie Ray 3 and 2.
Spud
Spud went from career 2-5-1 to now being 5-5-1 vs this group. Yes three and OH – all are officially recorded as upsets. Spud was nine over and had no birds but he did beat his SM, when he jumped from #58 to #17. He defeated Irons, Sunny & Dr.Pepper for the honour.
Lucky
Lucky was lucky today. NO WAY! It wasn’t luck, just ask Flyer and FingZ, whom both he defeated with his par on 16. That win over FingZ, was a #50 upsetting #4 and when the smoke settled for day two, it will show Lucky as #7.
