Notables

  • We don't mention all honourable things that happen at an event BUT we do mention these such notables: How about The Kid, who averages about 6.5 rounds a season in his 10 year Slammer career. The Summer Solstice hasn't arrived yet and he has already played his third event, surpassing last season. He wins his TC "PARS 2000 A-Class" over Happy 6 and 4. He wins 3 of the 4 dogs, gets 2 birdies {one good for a skin}. What else? His par on eighteen is all he needed to upset #11 KaDaver. Yes I DID receive much flack at the event, for him NOT making it to one of the highlight spots on the right.
  • It was announced that a Slammer had a hole in one today. Fret not - it wasn't during an event - and the pot still lives at about $350. Pepilepu, had his second career Ace {this one at Pineview in a social tournament}. His first was thirteen and a half months ago at Lombard Glen on that tough hole #8, just before we started the hole-in-one club. Maybe next time you stinker and congrats.
  • Evolution Physio Skins Mistress IM, gave a colourful report (she's the owner of the final quotable). She had to be reminded not to diss those who did not enter the skins game. TWICE! She corrected me stating that it is okay to diss oneself. Her par on hole #3 would have cut off Dracula and her par on hole #6 also would have been good for a skin.
  • ShortStack was the Culligan Water Boy today, and the good news is he arrived early enough to collect the bones. (hey fellow OCs, he gets it now!)
  • The last notable of the day comes to you sadly without video. Grumpy's drive on 18 hits a house at the corner of Wood and Boundary and bounces back onto the course. His 2nd shot (the ball is below his feet), will surely curl on to the green, he thinks. However it stays straight, hits the road, crosses the street, hits the opposite sidewalk and bounces back behind the putting green. With two matches still very much in play, Grumpy is lying two, just beyond the practice green. A good chip, but the ball runs off the green. Alas no victories for the Grumpster. Hey Enigma! ... Lying two - with a 6. Sound familiar?

Quotables

  • "Take that sweater off!"
  • "Change shirts and do it right here."
  • "Wow! You are getting all the guys to remove their clothes!" "What do you want me to take off?" asks one of the Tour's PMs.
  • "I'm gonna get an ace today. I don't want to but I will."
  • "There are a lot of fatties here today." "I bet they don't get their suspenders at GolfTown."
  • "Please don't chip that in again Blue."
  • "Thanks guys for leaving us with THAT visual!"
  • "All a man needs is the internet and M&Ms"
  • "Why is your thing all wet?"
  • "His balls kept getting in my way."
  • "Are you washing your ball? Yes! I want it to totally forget that hole. I am washing clean its' memory banks."
  • "That was not a Pommie, it was a Housie."
  • "Yes I have had a drink and I finished it all already."

Summary
A return to the course at the south end of the 416. Is it the home course of ShortStack? Maybe the home course of Dracula. Definitely closer to home for one of these two new Ottawans. They have both had their personal best scores at this course. Twenty four matches today and 64% were decided after hole 16 or later.

Stars
Dracula
AGAIN ... What is this Romanian count becoming? Sub 80, three birds, 4 skins, 3-0, successfully defending in the feature group. His score today was his Slammer Tour personal best. He gets a lot of flack and IS EQUAL to it all. His comebacks are up there with some of the Tour's best. He was teased about playing from the whites, no problem. As promised though - there was a notable that this OC promised to mention. Dracula went home to look up the term sand-bagger. I noticed that his personal best score came with a SEVEN on hole eighteeen. That 7 only happened after he had already shook hands thrice. He does howeve now have a Golf Canada membership - the handicap WILL be tracked, and the blue tees cannot be far way.
Papa Malone
Entering today's event ranked 112th. This New Top D classer, will only be in this division for a short time. He shakes hands with his past Ottawa Sun Scramble partner BigGuy after the twelfth. Last season he lost their series to BG. He shook Grumpy's hand after the sixteenth, for his third straight win. after losing the D title on the last hole of the last event last season. Then he won the 17th to go up one on Gator. They each had a bogey on eighteen to give Papa his third straight win of this season over the predator. That win vaulted him all the way 40th. He is two 99s away from joining the C class.
Blue
Poor Panda. He had to play with three Leafs fans {and yes The Enigma - there were more of LeafNation there that he didn't have to play with}. In the battle for supremacy among the Leaf faithful, Blue had two upsets. First he took down Pukey J 5 and 4, and moved from 58 to 33 on the Slammer ladder. His upset over ShortStack (in their first ever match) had to wait until after the 17th for that brotherhood handshake.
