 Notables - TC matches. On the final day of the 1st round, Wally takes down Goofy 8 and 6. Goofy had a double TC event. He and Grumpy could settle nothing after 18. On the 19th hole, Grumpy’s eight footer rimmed the hole to advance this newcomer, Goofy, to the 2nd round.
- Pace of play. As the 1st group left, there was concern about POP, all four were gathered together and instructions and warnings were issued. The remaining 12 of the field heard and concurred. It is always good when the last group comes in at 4.10.
- During the three stars announcement, Grumpy was guilty of whining about the difficulties when the sheets aren’t filled out correctly. He submitted his twonie. There were announcements made about the multiple ties, and the number of undefeated Slammers today, so I believe the whiner in the parking lot owes the kids.
- Thank you Pepi for doing a sweet smelling job with the Culligan Doggie Report. Shorts answered the bell to do the Evolution Physio Skins Game even though he was in the final group.
- I grew up on the same street as Wally, hung around with his two younger brothers, but never really met him. I noticed his name as Rexall’s partner in the Ottawa Sun Scramble in 2009 and 2010. Last year he joined the tour and I heard how pleasant a golfer he was to be with. After playing 18 holes with him today, I would have to adopt him as one of my favourites in a foursome. In spite of his weird putting style, and his knack at having a bird in the hand (picture to be on our facebook page soon).

Summary
It’s construction season. Bridges closed, lane reductions, how do you win? Play at 8:00 a.m.! Needless to say, upon arrival at Champlain, there was no fighting for parking spots, nor worrying about those already on the course. My biggest concern teeing off on number 1 was whether the halfway house was going to be open when we got there. Fifteen Slammers were gathered as the 1st group teed off. One guy was missing. He mentioned on the schedule page that he was looking for a drive. Did nobody pick up the panty wasted semi-man? Alas, Pommie arrived. Even without him at an event, his name gets shouted out many times. A great day weather wise. Four complete groups, all done in great timing, and a nineteenth hole full of typical Slammer Tour jocularity.

Two wins, one dog, one bird good for a skin and a 2nd skin with a par. Dracula adds 40 more bones to his collection. After becoming number 5 yesterday, he successfully held off Crenshaw on the 18th hole. Hey Dracula, if you went 2-0-1, how come the 2nd star was filling out the sheet? |

In only his 2nd game of the season, and with a win already over Deter (moving from 142 to 115), he upsets Crenshaw and continues up the ladder another 104 steps. Zenantics also won a doggie on hole 15 and caused some ‘antics’ on the 19th hole by not marking his doggie ball clearly. Zen (no relation to ZenGirl) was a good sport during the presentations, receiving some flack.

BigTee went 3-0 today. Some people reading this will be surprised to find this out and that he earned 3rd star. There was an erroneous report and announcement at the event of another Slammer going 3-0 in this group. The score card has been doubly checked, the skin sheet was checked twice, and the email went out. |
