  • The three stars for all three of these club championships' slammer events get to receive tickets to an Ottawa 67's game and a Club Link backpack.
  • The TanCo doggies today are worth 88 bones and the FITforeGOLF skins are worth another 85. Today both CannyJack {#9} and Sunny {#16} had a doggie / bird / skin, which we call a triple crown worth 173 of those bones. This total had them tied for second in the 3 week bones total race.
  • The three week event had 17 Slammers collect bones. Chef's dog today brought his total to 250. Burnsy {125} and Smitty {a skin today for a 122 total} are the top five. Cuba {116}, Old Spice & LoneWolf {90}, Steamer {dog today for 88}, and TAD {eagle skin =85} all make it to the top ten. Pepilepu {74}, KaDaver & Hubby {72}, springlakes & Princess {44} and Goose & Iron Maiden {37} also ended up in the plus column.

  • Much comment about Grumpy wearing shorts at the beginning, but PizzaMan also wore shorts and played 18 holes wearing them. Atta boy Mike don't give in to the weather man, we have to fight him!
  • Well there was reference to Jesus, and this time it wasn't swearing. Both Princess and the Tinman hit balls 'that walked on water' to get back on the fairway, in the same foursome.

Summary
Well, if you check the quotes, you will notice that it was a cold day, apparently. The day started off being a record for the Slammer Tour. Yes there were 75 people slamming today! Then we arrived had 4 call in and bail and another person decide to NOT. Oh well ties last season's closer at 70 people. Still could have been beaten if Grumpy answered his cell phone and saw that #1 Chilly wanted in. What a great host Mark, Dale and team was ensuring that we had a success. Due to the dip in the mercury they offered every golfer a 'free' bowl of chilli {I wonder if this is the first summary written with two spellings of the chilly word.]. Somebody's diet won't allow for the warm tummy filler, but reports came back that it was good {sounds like it was written in Genesis}. As if that wasn't enough. The owner Mark Seabrooke walked thru the room and personally handed everybody a complimentary green fee. THANK YOU! While we are giving out thanx - what about to our assistant commish Andy. 'Malone' Rajhathy once again did yeoman's work. Most often, we play in these events, enjoy ourselves, and don't even think about that 'behind the scenes' work. We tend to complain about the 'changes' to our challenges. But look at an event with 132 golfers, and all of the various formats, and what he did was FANTASTIC. Well, as announced publicly, sometimes the OC has little time to make a decision. Well I erred. Missing one tidbit, and when I add it, I explain it to #2 and now we write the change. Having become aware of the fact that Louli is the Egyptian word for pearl, I start to call him the most adorned Slammer. We have heard many people state about all of those stats won due to volume of events. In the last few months he has added a couple of big events. Top ranked Slammer at season's end, 2nd place in the Ottawa Sun Scramble {finally found his partner - KaDaver is 5th in 5 years}, and now he is the Executive Golf Senior Club Champ. Back to today's Tour event. Zero birdies, 16 pars for the best round of the day. He went undefeated to move onto the second step that is the Slammer ladder. I quote some of his foursome "he hit at least eight of those par putts that were from afar." His 3-0 record was against formidable opponents. He upset KaDaver to bring their record this season to .500, and Cuba to whom he had lost 4 of their last five matches.

So you have all been to his website, and whisper about THAT name. Well how come Grumpy gets sent to tell him that his stardom had to get downgraded - well at least he received the clapping and cheers from the field. Danger, playing in his 17th event in this rookie season, went undefeated with a perfect 3-0 record. His three playing partners have 18 events under their belts. Two of his victories get recorded as upsets because he beat opponents ranked higher, and the third - against Garbo is also an upset due to scoring averages. Danger shot a dozen strokes less than his average, and got mentioned in the long drive competition. This second career 3-0 day was against tougher opposition. Today's "B" score was his best ever Slammer score, and moved him out of the "D" class again, probably for good this time. The only star today to NOT beat his Ottawa Sun Scramble partner.
TinMan (r)
Today we had 20 groups of Slammers go out. In nine of the groups, we had a 3-0 record. Two of them are mentioned above and of the other 7, the Tinman jumps the most steps on the ladder. For the 4th straight time, Tinman beat his Ottawa Sun Scramble partner, Tsunami. Wakening this morning as #166, he will go to bed tonight more than half the way up at 82, due to his upset over Mother. Tinman, maybe you better give the wizard back that heart that he gave you in Oz, you aren't using it correctly. Couch tonight! Thanks a lot, tomorrow, I have to play MA!
