  • Rio is the first Slammer of 2013 to have two dogs in one event, look out Maiden – here he comes!
  • Hole six was our first attempt today for a dog. ShortStack has the longest dog on the trip … 69 feet, he was but an inch on the front of the green, and what about that green and its undulations? I wish I saw the putts.
  • Today’s first milestone goes out to the OC. Grumpy is the 8th Slammer to play in event #350 (side note – this is done on my 50th different ST course).
  • The second milestone goes to BearCat, with his 200th career loss (to AllyCat on 7 - they started on the back nine, and NO the two Cats are not related.). The third belongs to Juice, who on the 17th hole beat Cuba for her 100th career victory.
  • Today marks the first official FGC challenge. Many Slammers know about the FGC (Friday Golf Club) and be sure to check out Gazzif’s license plate next time that you are near him in a parking lot. Sunny, Gazzif, Ceejay & Bainsey are all members. As are Pommie and Pozzo, left back home. Well that tour has some special rules. Today Malone and McGoop fell to Sunny and Ceejay. Sunny's double on 18 beat Malone's triple to hand Malone (35th Slammer to reach that mark)his 150th career loss. Gazzif and Bainsey took down Rio & ShortStack. The FGCers win the first challenge. One pint per hole – OUCH!!
  • Sunny is the 29th Slammer to play in his 150th event.

Summary
Another day and another juggling of the foursomes. Malone, having so much to consider and so many requests to try and fulfill does another impeccable job. He does the juggling, gets his announcer to make the changes and we realize the issues that arise on a bus trip, when people are travelling by car. They miss the announcements! I can’t decide which course I like best. Each course has something different to offer. So Slammers – what are your thoughts when you get to the tee on the ninth hole and read the following: “SLAVE CEMETERY. The fenced area beyond the tee box was established as a cemetery for the slaves on True Blue and Midway Plantations, possibly as early as the 1720’s. As the resting place for an unknown number of enslaved men, women, and children, the cemetery was used by their descendants well into the 20th century. It’s close proximity to water was considered desirable within the slave culture, it was believed that water enabled the souls of the dead to reach the afterlife. The cemetery’s natural appearance is in keeping with long-standing Low country traditions and the various artifacts found on some of the graves, including pipes, stone, shells and bottles, are symbolic of African burial customs.” I will have to add the picture of the historical plaque to our facebook photo album.

Once again our top slammer goes 3-0. Today his challenges came from a few guys in a lower class. I guess that they wanted to see what it was like to play a Legend. First victim was Gazzif (8&6), then fell Bainesy (6&4), and the last one to succumb was ShortStack (4&3). Well Rio goes 3-0 and collects a pair of dogs along the way. Add to that his birdie skin on #11 and he had a 124 bone day. 8 wins and a tie to start 2013.
AllyCat (r)
Welcome rookie! Ally played with gator and of course when you have ally & gator in a group the larger reptiles will be out, and this rookie is now the new second highest ranked slammer in Myrtle. AllyCat goes 3-0 today. This time she has stepped away from her Ottawa Sun Scramble partner and took on three Slammers that are all on the top 100 for career games. Falling to AllyCat were SunShine(5&3), Gator(5&4),and BearCat (3&2).
Lil Muffin (r)
Another rookie, LilMuffin went 3-0, and made it to the top thirty. Her first day was 1-2, and her second went 2-1. Today she improves to perfection, taking down Kaki (8&7), RipZone (7&5), and WolfMan (6&5). Also heard yelling at Grumpy to Hurry Up! (twice). LilMuffin is currently tied with Rio for most birds this season.
