Notables

  • TC - KaDaver with his default over Cash advances to the Elite Eight in the ‘Open’ division. He is the eighth one to move on and will face Burnsy next.
  • TC - Grasshopper eliminates Danger in the first match of the third round in the ‘C’ and will move into the Final Four as the top seed. (nice to see some initiative and the scheduling of a match even before the posting - THANK YOU).
  • Notable - Grumpy plays in his 200th career event - this is his third season. He is the 16th Slammer to do so, a few weeks behind Ruskie, just before Bulldog, Smitty & ProZee. Is he the fastest to get there {837 days}? Our career event leader, Ticklar has played in 581, his 200th came on his 1154th day as a Slammer.
  • - One of my favourite quotables was spoken by Chilly and penned by Iron Maiden on Sunday, November 8, 2009. “Jamie recognized there was a niche market for a bunch of social misfits....so he created the Slammer Tour!” Well, although I have often used it, I would like to add to it today. In the last two weekends, Grumpy has been ‘injured’ both times. Last Sunday at Loch March with a migraine, and today. Today - that bulge that you have noticed on his navel is a hernia - my hernia had a flare up, and I was in some obvious pain in the 19th. For the second straight weekend, Slammers {these Social Misfits} showed so much care and compassion, as they offered drugs, drives to hospital et al. I THANK YOU, and now you see why we are the Slammer family.

Quotables

  • “That’s a nice story, but I am still not going into skins.”
  • “Is that a stiff shaft?”
  • “I parked behind the screen … and he still hit my cart.”
  • “If you played better, I could have quit 3 holes ago.”
  • “That reminds me of Sam Snead and the ostrich that ate his straw hat.”
  • “You guys make great targets, but you stood on the second tee and not the green.”
  • “Ever see an Apache 200?” “I’ve never even seen an Apache!”
  • “Good news is that you were in some matches. Bad news is you are now the new cadaver.”
  • “KaDaver did SOMETHING today.”
  • “Hey Grumpy, I live in Centertown, I can drive you when you need a lift.” “Thanx Snooter, but it took you four months to appear after your initial registration, if you wait another four, the season will just be finishing.”

Summary
A long weekend, means that there are people available for one of those new Monday morning events. Well this one goes into the books as a nooner. There was bailage, last second shuffling of the groups, and an even later minute addition of an inauguration. Much anticipation, as many of the field have never been here before. All the rants of this hidden gem in the Gatineaus, {pearl is a gem and do you all know what Louli is in Egyptian? - ask him} made one guy named Ticklar come the day before and play nine with a -4. Speaking of my Favourite Egyptian, you may have heard that this OC had a "comment" in last week's review. So I went up to him in the parking lot to offer my apologies. It went something like this "Hey Tick, I am sorry that I called you a cheater. I only did it because you told me that you cheated." "I didn't say that I cheated, I merely said that I broke the rules."

Stars
Snooter (r)
First Timer ... for the 6th time this season our first star goes to a Slammer in his inaugural event. Hey, Snooter, Team Central could have used that kind of snooting in the Commish Cup; maybe next year. Well rookie - we dont think that 'score' is such an important stat on the Tour, but we will mention that you DID 'best' the field today, and we know of 80 reasons to hint of it. So in his first event, he now joins the ranks of the undefeated. Tis true that he has jumped right in and has learned about challenging. Kricket and Mapper succumbed on 13, and then Roscoe gave up lofty #94, one hole later. I bet that you would like to play #7 again {and I dont mean #16}. Snooter's birdie on ONE, let his opponents know what kind of day it would be (KaDaver also - getting his birdie cut-off). Snooter made up for it by getting the only par skin on 15 and taking home 11 bones. Speaking of bones - Snooter proved to be a good sport when the Doggie Master used some tomfoolery in his presentation about Snooter's 76 footer on 18.
Cuba
One birdie, one dog, and one skin. No it isn't a new version of the George Thorogood hit. It is what Cuba did on hole 9 to take home his 31 bones. He also leaves the course unscathed. His 3-0 included a succesful defence of PinShark and two upsets over Kadaver & Ticklar. In such typical Cuba fashion, nothing was yet decided as they walked off of 16. By now we all know about the push for 'best dressed', well Fidel took a step backwards when he realized he didnt grab matching socks. Glad she's gone !
Grasshopper
Felicitations, Sauterelle. Not a blemish to the record going 2-0 against a stubborn Grumpy and a less than dangerous Danger. The win over Danger advances this top seeded "C" into the next round of the TC. Grasshopper also picked up the day's first skin with his birdie on eight.
